What Manual Lymphatic Therapy IS and IS NOT

There is a big difference in the post-operative "Lymphatic Massage" you will most likely receive after Liposuction,(esp with BBL) at a recovery house, and the Lymphatic Drainage Massage you will receive with an actual Certified Manual Lymphatic Therapist.  At your recovery house or Plastic Surgery center, a nurse or nurses aid will be pushing excess fluid out through the open wounds where the Cannula was used for Lipo.  This can be painful as they are putting a lot of pressure on deeper tissue.  Actual MLD (manual lymphatic drainage)  is extremely light work and is very relaxing.  You will get relief having MLD performed on you.

With actual MLD, we slowly pump and glide the congested Lymph (which carries waste products like anesthesia, and destroyed bacteria) toward the Lymph nodes where it is then sent to the liver and kidneys to be passed through the urine and bowel.  It will not be pushed out through open wounds or drain tubes.  That is actually very dangerous and can cause bacterial infection.

In some cases, your surgeon may suggest being drained by a nurse.  That should ONLY be performed in a sterile doctor's office!  Not by a lash tech or someone posing to be a Lymphatic Therapist just because they received this treatment at a recovery house and think that they can now perform it.  *We highly recommend not going through with the session if you do not see a Board Certification and Practice License at the place of business.

At Dig Deep, you will be in a beautiful setting without having to pass through a waiting room with several people, and have an extremely clean bathroom very close (you should need to urinate right away after and will not want to put on your Faja and clothes in order to do so)!  You will also have a magnificent fluffy massage table with proper bolstering where you will get to lie on your back with your bum sinking into a hole so there is no pressure on it. Relief!!

Whichever procedure you had, we have the proper bolstering and techniques for each.

First, we will feel the tissue, to find any pockets of fluid and fibrosis.  Next we will perform MLD with hands and you'll really relax.  Then we will perform light vaccutherapy using a wonderful machine.  After that, we will perform smoothing techniques.  You will look and feel much better each session!
